The Covenant Pass is the first location visited in Borderlands 3 and it serves as the game's tutorial and introduction to its mechanics. The overall area houses a bus stop where players will first start, but more importantly it houses a Children of the Vault stronghold in what appears to be a old factory of sorts.
This stronghold is under control by the bandit Shiv, who serves as the game's first boss encounter.
