Carrier is a legendary assault rifle in Borderlands 3 manufactured by Atlas. It is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source, but has an increased chance to drop from Judge Hightower located in Lectra City on Promethea.
Special Weapon Effects
I have arrived. – Any bullet that hits an enemy spawns an additional projectile capable of bouncing off terrain that then homes in on the nearest enemy after a short delay, including the original target. Reduced projectile speed and random Atlas alternative fire option.
Usage & Description
The Carrier's main bullets home in on enemies targeted by the tracking projectile (fired with the Alternative Fire mode). However, the Carrier is unique among Atlas weapons as the additional projectile spawned from the initial impact has innate seeking properties and will automatically seek an additional target even if no other targets have been tagged. The Carrier is also generous with regards to its usability; the child projectiles have bouncing properties, which means that even in enclosed spaces there is no risk of them prematurely disappearing if they strike walls shortly after spawning.
Notes
- Elemental bonuses, e.g. from Amara's Forceful Expression skill, or from anointed weapon, shield or grenade mod, will cause additional homing projectiles to spawn on hit.
- The additional projectiles do not spawn if the main projectile hits terrain.
- The Carrier's bullets travel more slowly than normal Atlas rifles, requiring careful aim on distant or fast-moving targets.
Trivia
- The special effect, name and flavor text are a reference to the Carrier from the StarCraft series of video games, a vehicle unit famous for attacking via swarms of drones.
