Overview[]

In Borderlands 4, Parts describe anything that can modify how a weapon or gear would normally function, and certain part types let manufacturer & non-manufacturer-specific effects to appear on any piece of weapon or gear.

Part types[]

There are 5 types of Part in Borderlands 4:

Slots & Rarity[]

  • All items can have up to 3 slots for parts, depending on item type and rarity.
  • If a weapon or grenade shows 4 slots, the 4th one is its default trait (not a part slot).
  • Legendary parts take up 1 slot; Legendary quality does not add capacity.
  • Higher rarity does not mean all part slots will be filled.

Guns can have up to 3 slots for Licensed Parts or Underbarrel Attachments, depending on their rarity.

  • Can be elemental.
Tediore
  • Reload by throwing the gun.
  • Can be semi and full-auto.
Combo — Thrown Gun can be shot to increase the explosion's Damage

Shooting Replicator Legs - Throws 2 Guns with legs that shoot enemies until out of Ammo
Torgue
Secondary fire shoots sticky Gyrojets that explode on Reload or when switching Modes - which increases explosion Damage by +X% each
  • Always semi-auto.
  • Always deal splash damage, medium-large area.
Vladof
  • Always has an underbarrel attachment.
  • Always full-auto (unconditional).[1]

Licensed-Part[]

Licensed parts allow guns not made by a manufacturer to share that manufacturer's unique traits.

Parts[]

Manufacturer prefixes (e.g: Atlas-Licensed...) have been removed from licensed part names for the sake of visual clarity.

CoV Magazine — This Gun has an unlimited Magazine size, however it will heat up, and eventually break (fixing the gun is CoV's reload mechanism).
Daedalus (Alt-Fire) Multi-Loader — Secondary fire consumes [different type of ammo, whichever the main gun is not using]
Hyperion Grip — Accuracy increases with continuous fire
Shield — Zoom to enable Gun Shields
Amp Shield — Damage to Gun Shields amplifies Gun Damage
Absorb Shield — Damage to Gun Shields absorbs Ammo
Ricochet Shield — Damage to Gun Shields can Ricochet back toward enemies
Jakobs Accessory — Critical Hits will Ricochet Projectiles to nearby enemies
Maliwan Underbarrel — Can switch between X and X elements

Underbarrel Attachment[]

Also known as Alt-Fire, underbarrel attachments allow guns that would not normally have alternative functions to utilize them.

Conflicts[]

  • Underbarrel attachments cannot appear on guns if their manufacturers differ (e.g, Jakobs underbarrel attachments can't appear on Tediore guns and vice versa).
  • The only exceptions are manufacturer-specific parts that have a Licensed Part as its prefix: Atlas, Daedalus & Maliwan.
  • Maliwan guns may spawn with different attachments, disabling their element-switching function.

X depends on the player character's skills, weapon's level, parts, and bonus stats from Enhancement, Class Mod, Firmware.
