Borderlands: Game of the Year Enhanced is a re-release of Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, released on 3 April 2019 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

New features[]

Whilst almost identical to the original 2009 release, the game features some notable tweaks:

  • Textures have been given a higher resolution, providing crisper visuals. The game is also now capable of being played in 4K and at higher framerates on consoles.
  • In addition to the compass featured in the original release, a minimap is now available to help navigate maps, and objective waypoints are always displayed at their location, giving exact distances between them and the player.
  • SHiFT codes are now supported, and Golden Chests have been added to Fyrestone and New Haven, which can be opened by Golden Keys.
  • The inventory screen has been reworked to look and function similar to Borderlands 2's.
  • Money and supplies - such as Ammunition, Insta-Health Vials, etc. - that are on the ground will now automatically be picked up when the player approaches them instead of requiring a button press. This does not affect loot inside containers.
  • The ability to tag weapons and gear as favorites/junk has been added to enhance inventory management.
  • Six all-new Gearbox manufactured Legendary weapons - Hive Mind, Violence, Silent Night, Mug Shot, Baha's Bigger Blaster and Sucker Punch.
  • The rarity of some weapons (such as the Penetrator and Draco) have been adjusted.
  • Some unique weapon attributes have been set to fixed, thus preventing them from having any elemental varients.
  • On PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, split-screen cooperative play on the same console is now possible for up to four players.
  • Some additional objects - such as rocks, trees and lootable containers - have been added to the game worlds.
  • Character customization has been expanded, with the addition of changeable character Heads.
  • Characters from the original release can be imported to the enhanced edition to continue play, but must be from the same console family (eg: PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4)
    • Because of the item rules changed in the Enhanced version, some weapons will disappear after a data transfer to an Enhanced edition (eg: elemental Leviathan, Dove-Hornet and more).

PC requirements[]

Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system

  • Windows 7 64-Bit
  • Intel Core i3 530 @2.93GHz/AMD Phenom 9950 @2.6GHz
  • 4 GB RAM
  • Geforce GTX 660, Radeon HD 6970
  • DirectX Version 11
  • 25 GB available space
  • Directx 9.0c sound card

PC Bug[]

The PC version of GOTY Enhanced has a memory leak that causes a crash to desktop after extended play sessions. The exact length of play before a crash will vary based on PC hardware. This can be avoided by occasionally exiting and restarting the game.

You also can improve your experience by removing the cutscenes (especially Angel's appearances):

  • On Steam[1]
    1. right-click the game then click Properties
    2. Set launch options
    3. type -nomoviestartup in the box
    4. Go to the Steam files and delete every Angel scenes.
  • On Windows[2]
    1. Go to the Steam directory → Steamapps → Common → BorderlandsGOTYEnhanced
    2. Search for the loading.bk2 string: a list of cutscene files appears
    3. Delete them all (57 files).

Important: Don't forget to backup your files if ever you want to retrieve them.
