Blood Soaked Shields is one of Gaige's Tier Two Ordered Chaos skills, which causes her to forfeit a sliver of health to recharge her shields whenever she kills an enemy.

Effect
With one point in this skill, killing an enemy will immediately recharge 20% of Gaige's shields, but subtract 1% of her current health in the process. Even if Gaige's shields are full, this effect does trigger, and Gaige will lose a percentage of health.
To illustrate: 1% of 500 health is only 5 points. This does not seem like much, but this effect will trigger every time Gaige kills an enemy while her shields are partially or completely drained. The lower Gaige's health is while her shields are depleted, the riskier this skill becomes.
Usage
This ability works wonderfully with Amp shields with only 1-2 points invested, allowing you to rapidly fire amp'd shots so long as you are killing with each one. With Interspersed Outburst you can make a very powerful sniping build. Alternately, at level 5, it works well with a close-combat build using a nova shield. You will constantly be firing off a nova, getting a kill, getting your shields dropped, and repeating. This is only truly effective in a large swarm and under a decent amount of fire. Cooking Up Trouble is helpful as it can regen the lost health in both cases.
With at least one point in this skill, Gaige will have a fully charged shield after recovering from fight for your life mode via getting a kill. This allows her to get right back in the fray with full use of any amp shield or nova shield she is using. Making this a good combo with Flame of the Firehawk.
