Binary Operator is a legendary sniper rifle in Borderlands 3 manufactured by Maliwan, and is exclusive to the Designer's Cut DLC. It is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source at Stormblind Complex during the Arms Race mode, and can be brought outside of the area when extracted with a Gear Extractor.
Special Weapon Effects[]
Do it or don't. What's an attempt? – Always non-elemental. Kills the enemy if their current health is below the weapon's hidden damage value. Deals minimal damage if they have more health.
Usage & Description[]
The Binary Operator's hidden damage value can be increased by the weapon's level or the Vault Hunter's weapon damage stats, however, it has diminishing utility at higher levels as most enemies will have more health than is allowed for the weapon's one-shot effect to be triggered in a practical manner, considering that enemies would be at a low enough health that the user could finish the target off with the same weapon(s) used to initially weaken the target. Therefore, weapons with a more consistent damage output are recommended, particularly on Mayhem Mode levels.
Notes[]
Trivia[]
- The flavor text is a reference to the 1980 film Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back where the character Yoda says, "Do or do not, there is no try." This relates to the weapon name since a binary operator only has two possible outcomes.
