For the legendary assault rifle in Borderlands 3, see Bearcat (Borderlands 3).

Bearcat is a pearlescent assault rifle in Borderlands 2 manufactured by Dahl. It can be obtained randomly from any suitable loot source, but has a higher chance to drop from legendary loot midgets, 010011110100110101000111010101110101010001001000, and Uranus.

Special Weapon Effects[]

I love the smell of popcorn in the morning. – Fires three grenades per shot at the cost of 6 ammo. Slightly increased magazine size.

Usage & Description[]

The Bearcat is largely similar to a Grenadier. The main differences are its increased grenade count and reduced ammo consumption of 2 bullets per grenade compared to an equivalent Grenadier's 3 bullets per grenade. Even with the reduced ammo consumption, the Bearcat can still quickly use up the character's ammo reserve if care is not taken to the number of bursts being fired. It is best used at short range, as its accuracy is canceled out by its spread.

Notes[]

  • Neither skills that specifically boost gun damage, such as Maya's Reaper, or skills that boost grenade damage, such as Axton's Steady, will boost the damage of the weapon. However, more general damage bonuses, and elemental bonuses, will still function normally.
  • A Bearcat without an elemental capacitor will not have the colored outlines for explosive when held, dropped or inspected. In this case, it is considered to be both explosive and non-elemental for the purposes of skills, taking bonuses from both explosive-boosting skills and relics, as well as non-elemental boosts from Axton's Duty Calls skill.
  • The Bearcat's projectiles receive full amp damage bonus, even though they are listed projectiles.

Trivia[]

  • The Bearcat has the same skin that is used for purple rarity Dahl weapons.
  • The flavor text is a reference to bearcat musk glands that emit an odor reminiscent of popcorn.
