Badass Troopers are enemies encountered in Borderlands 3. They are the elite infantry of the Maliwan corporation and are easily distinguished by their orange capes and hoods.

Strategy
Like all Maliwan Troopers, Badass Troopers are always equipped with sheilds. However, unlike other troopers, they dual-wield Maliwan Pistols. In combat, they quickly move around the battlefield, using their strong shields to absorb damage and counter with salvos of high-powered elemental weaponry. It should be noted that unlike most enemies that are equipped with elemental weaponry which tend to use only one element, Badass Troopers will switch between their weapon's two elements every time they stop to reload.
Strong shock weapons are recommended to quickly strip off their shields. After their shields are removed, they are highly vulnerable to incendiary weapons.
Notes
- A Dark variant of the Badass Troopers can be found on Nekrotafeyo and Slaughterstar 3000 under General Traunt's command. Despite the different name and color palette, they are the same as standard troopers.
- A SpecOps variant of the Badass Trooper can also be found at the Midnight's Cairn, where they serve as elite guardsmen for the weapons research project "Valhalla".
- In Mayhem Mode and True Vault Hunter Mode they are renamed Badass Commando.
- During the Bloody Harvest event, a variant called "Mortician Trooper" could be found in The Heck Hole.
