The Backburner is capable of inflicting friendly fire. This makes it dangerous to use in multiplayer as well as on FL4K due to the possibility of downing allies and pets; however Zane can take advantage of this by equipping a Transformer or Red Suit and giving a shock or radiation variant of the Backburner to his Digi-Clone via Double Barrel, allowing the Digi-Clone to quickly replenish Zane's shields.
The Backburner is extremely effective against large, slow targets like The Agonizer 9000. With some aim, the main projectile can be lodged in cramped spots like the armpits or neck so that every secondary projectile immediately collides with the target.
