Antimatter Rifle is the title of a group of common sniper rifles in Borderlands 3 manufactured by Maliwan using the Alien barrel. The Antimatter Rifle is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source.
Usage & Description[]
The Antimatter Rifle is essentially a railgun, firing an very fast, very accurate bolt of energy that is capable of piercing multiple enemies if lined up properly. As a Maliwan weapon, it always deals elemental damage and can deal large amounts of status effect damage. Unlike most other Maliwan weapons however, it does not need to charge up before firing. This trait is shared with the other two Alien weapons manufactured by Maliwan, Devourer pistols and Interloper shotguns.
All damage dealt is generally multiplied by x2, including critical hit damage, status effect damage and Overkill damage – similar to a fully charged Proton Rifle. Thus, actual damage output is much higher than the stats on the card suggest.
The Antimatter Rifle's main disadvantage is its high ammo consumption of 3 ammo per shot, which can be very hard to sustain early on without any SDUs. Fortunately, the Alien barrel increases magazine size by +8, so reloading typically isn't any more frequent than with standard Maliwan snipers.
Notes[]
- As an alien barrel weapon, it only comes in rare and epic rarity.
