Alien Barrel Weapons are type of weapon featured in Borderlands 3, featuring a creepy, living-being barrel. Similar to E-tech weapons in Borderlands 2, each type of Alien Barrel Weapons has their own, unique characteristics, always elemental, and consumes extra ammo per shot. Unlike E-tech weapons, they don't come with a unique rarity: Instead, they occur as rare, epic or legendary. Alien Barrel Weapons may come with sharp shells and spikes as barrel accessory, which also have unique characteristics each. Rare alien barrel weapons will not have barrel accessory, while Epic variants will always have one.
Most manufacturers has their own Alien Barrel Weapon set beside Atlas and Jakobs. Jakobs, however, manufactures a variety of legendary Alien Barrel Weapons. Atlas is the only weapon manufacturer that don't manufacture any Alien Barrel Weapon. Despite having similar appearance, alien barrel for different manufacturer has different effect. Most of them may come with an exclusive barrel accessory or not.
Enemies (mostly Children of the Vault, and Bonded) may also use Alien Barrel Weapons against Vault Hunters. Crimson Raiders can also have Alien Barrel Weapon in their hand.
Characteristics[]
Pistols[]
Most of Alien Barrel pistols fire slow-moving sticky spikes, which will detonate after a short time and consumes extra ammo per shot, similar to Spiker in Borderlands 2. The impact deals 10% of listed damage, while the explosion deals 90% of listed damage as splash damage (can hurt the user). They may (or may not) come with a barrel accessory that increases melee damage by +60% (80% for Vladof variant). For some manufacturers, this makes them the only variant within pistols (or all weapons sometimes) with increased melee damage. Some Alien Barrel Weapons like Wyvern and Blastphemy, can provide much higher melee damage bonus than other non-unique weapons.
Blastphemy[]
Alien Barrel pistol by COV. Fires common sticky spikes that consume 2 ammo per shot (which gives them "Moar" prefix). Just like other COV pistols, they replaces magazine with engine heat, has unlimited magazine size but will heat up and break (they also have +100% heat per shot). As the nature of COV pistols, they can be "MOARR" and fire 1-2 extra bullets per shot.
Accessory provides +60% melee damage, reduced heat per shot and increased elemental damage. Combining with melee foregrip accessory, a Blastphemy can provide +140% melee damage.
Wyvern[]
Alien Barrel pistol by Dahl. Fires common sticky spikes. Just like other common Dahl pistols, they comes with fire selector (with adjustable scopes mostly). When in burst fire mode, Wyverns fire in 3-round burst (unlike most Dahl weapons, the user need to release the trigger between firing bursts). Alien Barrel also give them +60% melee damage and +20% magazine size.
Accessory provides extra +60% melee damage, increased projectile speed and faster reload speed. A Wyvern with melee accessory can have up to +160% melee damage, which is highest among all non-unique weapons.
Devourer[]
Alien Barrel pistol by Maliwan. Fires sticky spikes that explode much sooner than others. Doesn't need to charge before firing. Just like other common Maliwan weapons, they can switch between two different elements.
Lurkshot[]
Alien Barrel pistol by Tediore. Fires sticky spikes that can bounce twice from surfaces. Thrown weapon will leave an elemental pool on the ground, continuously damaging enemies on it for a few seconds. Alien Barrel also give them +10% magazine size.
Accessory provides extra +60% melee damage (which is unique among all Tediore weapons), increased magazine size and faster reload speed.
Carbuncle[]
Alien Barrel pistol by Torgue. Fires sticky spikes in the whole magazine within one shot, with greatly decreased accuracy, like a shotgun. In return, they reload much faster than other Torgue pistols. No alternate fire mode.
Accessory provides +60% melee damage, increased projectile speed and reload speed.
Pushdug[]
Alien Barrel pistol by Vladof. Fires common sticky spikes. Alternate firing mode is a launcher that fires an elemental grenade, dealing splash damage and leaving an elemental pool on the ground, with magazine size of 3. Alien Barrel also give them increased reload speed.
Accessory provides +80% melee damage, increased fire rate and magazine size.
Legendaries[]
- King's Call / Queen's Call - Legendary pistols by Jakobs. Fire powerful elemental bullets that ricochet 3 bullets and return 3 ammo to magazine on critical hit. Consume 3 ammo per shot.
- Gargoyle - Legendary pistol by COV. Has a chance to fire arcing corrosive blobs in addition to its regular projectiles.
Submachine Guns[]
Alien Barrel SMGs fire elemental balls with lower damage, slower projectile speed and consumes +1 ammo per shot. They have increased magazine in return. Barrel accessory provides +30% projectile speed in common.
Cadejo[]
Alien Barrel SMG by Dahl. Fires common elemental balls. When in burst fire mode, the Cadejo fires in 4-shot bursts. Alien Barrel also give them +20% magazine size.
Accessory provides increased projectile speed and reload speed.
Hivemind[]
Alien Barrel SMG by Hyperion. Fires elemental balls that can bounce once from surfaces, and has higher fire rate than other Hyperion SMG variants. They also come with Hyperion's trademark reverse recoil and shield. Alien Barrel also give them +25% magazine size.
Accessory provides increased projectile speed and shield capacity.
Heliophage[]
Alien Barrel SMG by Maliwan. Fires elemental balls with higher elemental damage (than other Alien Barrel SMGs) and higher element chance (around 35%, like common Maliwan sniper rifles) with no charge time.
Accessory provides increased projectile speed and reduced recoil.
Gibbergun[]
Alien Barrel SMG by Tediore. Fires common elemental balls. Thrown weapon creates an elemental pool on explode. Alien Barrel also give them +20% magazine size.
Accessory provides increased projectile speed and magazine size.
Legendaries[]
- Troubleshooter - Legendary SMG by Hyperion. Identifies the weaknesses of each target and modifies the element accordingly.
Assault Rifles[]
Alien Barrel assault rifles fire a continuous beam or stream, with a deep roar sound. They have low base weapon damage, but increases damage by keep firing. Projectile modifiers like accessories have no effect beside stats penalty on this weapon. Most legendary variants fire common bullets or elemental bolts instead.
Wizzperer[]
Alien Barrel assault rifle by COV. Fires a continuous beam. Has unlimited magazine size but will heat up and break (they also have +100% heat per shot).
Accessory provides decreased heat per shot.
Mngwa[]
Alien Barrel assault rifle by Dahl. Fires a continuous beam. Alternate fire mode changes its weapon zoom instead (if features adjustable scopes). Alien Barrel also give them +20% magazine size.
Accessory provides increased reload speed.
Blister[]
Alien Barrel assault rifle by Torgue. Fires an elemental stream within short range like a flamethrower. Increases damage by keep firing. Alien Barrel also give them +25% magazine size.
Burzum[]
Alien Barrel assault rifle by Vladof. Fires a continuous beam. Alternate fire mode is a single-shot launcher that fires an elemental grenade, dealing splash damage with 300 splash radius and leave an elemental pool.
Accessory provides increased magazine size.
Legendaries[]
- Zheitsev's Eruption - Legendary assault rifle by COV. Fires common bullets. When broken, fires 8 homing projectiles at enemies in sight. Enemies hit by these projectiles take +20% damage from all sources within 6 seconds. This effect stacks up to 10 times.
- Good Juju - Legendary assault rifle by Dahl. Fires common bullets in 3-round bursts. Non-critical hit gain +20% critical bonus, stacks up to 25 times. Stacks lost on reloading. Refills magazine on kill.
- Rowan's Call - Legendary Gatlin' assault rifle by Jakobs. Fires powerful elemental bullets that ricochet 2 bullets and return 2 ammo to magazine on critical hit.
- Mutant - Legendary Gatlin' non-elemental assault rifle by Jakobs. Fires a continuous beam with high damage like common Jakobs assault rifles.
- Hotfoot Teddy - Legendary incendiary assault rifle by Torgue. Stream chains to nearby enemies.
- Web Slinger - Legendary assault rifle by Vladof. +850% weapon damage. Fires slow, ricocheting bullets that fly in a corkscrew trajectory and split into 2 after a short distance, deal elemental splash damage on impact (can hurt the user). Fired bullets' element randomly changes to cryo. Alternate Fire Mode charges up to fire a powerful elemental bolt that penetrates enemies and explodes on hitting surface. Both bolt and explosion deals elemental splash damage.

Alien Barrel shotguns fire a single explosive projectile that affected by gravity, like a grenade launcher.
Host[]
Alien Barrel shotgun by Hyperion. Fires a bouncing grenade that bounce 2 times and explode on each bounce and on impact. Has much higher damage than others. have 300 splash radius. Alien Barrel also give them +20% magazine size.
Accessory provides increased splash radius and reload speed.
Interloper[]
Alien Barrel shotgun by Maliwan. Fires an explosive disk in full-automatic. Disks can bounce from surfaces once, have 210 splash radius, high elemental damage (around 3x weapon damage) and massive elemental chance (around 45%). Consumes 4 ammo per shot. Can switch between two elements. Alien Barrel also give them +50% magazine size.
Accessory provides increased projectile speed and elemental chance.
Elderblast[]
Alien Barrel shotgun by Tediore. Fires elemental grenade that deals splash damage with 300 splash radius. Has high elemental damage (around 2x weapon damage) and great elemental chance (around 45%). Thrown weapon creates an elemental pool on explode. Alien Barrel also give them +4 magazine size.
Accessory provides increased magazine size and splash radius.
Protuberance[]
Alien Barrel shotgun by Torgue. Fires elemental grenade that split into 3 MIRVs on explode. Damage is much lower than others. Has great elemental chance (around 50%). Consumes 4 ammo per shot. Alien Barrel also give them +5 magazine size.
Accessory provides increased reload speed and splash radius.
Legendaries[]
- Slow Hand - Legendary shotgun by Hyperion. Projectiles don't bounce. Has 50% lifesteal effect.
- Projectile Recursion - Legendary shotgun by Maliwan. Increased damage. Disks can bounce between enemies but have -100% splash radius and reduced elemental chance. Needs to charge up before firing.
- Insider - Legendary shotgun by Maliwan. Fires a cluster of elemental explosive projectiles that not affected by gravity. May come with accessory that provides increased pellet count, projectile speed and splash radius, at a cost of extra ammo consumption.
- Creeping Death - Legendary corrosive shotgun by Tediore. Fires sticky grenades. When thrown, all sticky grenades will go at the thrown weapon.
- The Lob - Legendary shotgun by Torgue. Fires a large, slow-moving orb forward, damaging enemies it touches.
- Shocker - Legendary shock shotgun by Torgue. Fires 3 slow-moving explosive orbs.
- Fearmonger - Legendary shotgun by Hyperion. Fires 4 wavy projectiles in a square pattern. Gain pellet count from Terror.
Sniper Rifles[]
Alien Barrel sniper rifles fire elemental bolts, which has slower projectile than bullets. Most of them can bounce twice from surface and have increased magazine size.
Wyrm[]
Alien Barrel sniper rifle by Dahl. Fires elemental bolt that can bounce twice from surface. When in burst fire mode, the Wyrm fires in 3-shot bursts. Alien Barrel also give them +5 magazine size.
Accessory provides increased projectile speed and reload speed.
Broodmother[]
Alien Barrel sniper rifle by Hyperion. Fires elemental bolt that can bounce twice from surface. Alien Barrel also give them +8 magazine size.
Accessory provides increased critical damage and shield capacity.
Antimatter rifle[]
Alien Barrel sniper rifle by Maliwan. Fires a single elemental bolt with no charge time. Has high elemental damage (around 1.5x weapon damage) and great elemental chance (around 60%). Consumes 3 ammo per shot. Can switch between two elements. Alien Barrel also give them +8 magazine size.
Accessory provides increased magazine size and fire rate.
Ghaash[]
Alien Barrel sniper rifle by Vladof. Rapidly fires elemental bolt that can bounce twice from surface. Alternate fire mode fires a grenade that explodes and splits into 3 MIRVs on impact. Alien Barrel also give them +12 magazine size.
Legendaries[]
- Malak's Bane - Legendary sniper rifle by Dahl. Fires in semi-automatic. Alternate fire mode switches to shotgun mode.
- Stalker - Legendary cryo sniper rifle by Dahl. Fires 3 pellets per shot in 3-round burst. Alternate fire mode switches pellet pattern between vertical and horizontal. Gains pellet count from Terror.
- Boogeyman - Legendary sniper rifle by Vladof. Summons a boogeyman on kill, which homes in enemies, explodes on contact and creates another boogeyman. Has high chance not to consume ammo.

Alien Barrel heavy weapon by Torgue. Will charge and fire automatically upon pulling the trigger. Fires a slow-moving elemental orb that consumes the whole magazine and has 300 splash radius. Reloads slower than other Torgue heavy weapons. No alternate fire mode.
Accessory provides increased elemental damage and elemental chance.

Alien Barrel heavy weapon by Vladof. Fires elemental bolt in full-automatic. Consumes 3 ammo per shot. Has no alternative fire mode.
Accessory provides increased elemental chance and magazine size.

- Globetrottr - Legendary heavy weapon by COV. Fires 3 explosive bouncing sawblades that jump into the air and explode after first explosion.
- Plaguebearer - Legendary heavy weapon by Torgue. Orb summons extra projectiles around it that will home in enemies nearby.
- R.Y.N.A.H. - Legendary heavy weapon by Torgue. Fires 2 orbs that tether to enemies they touch and fires projectiles at enemies on explode.
- Backburner - Legendary heavy weapon by Vladof. Fires orb that creates an eruption of projectiles on hit.
- Kickcharger - Legendary heavy weapon by Vladof. Fires a penetrating beam, which can be charged to increase damage. Sliding charges instantly.
