The Absolute Zero is a legendary laser manufactured by Maliwan added in The Claptastic Voyage.

It can be obtained as a rare drop by EOS.

Special Weapon Effects

In this universe, there is only one absolute. – Always cryo element. Greatly reduced magazine size, increased damage and slightly higher elemental effect chance.

Usage & Description

The Absolute Zero competes with the Dahl Fridgia for the most effective weapon to freeze targets at close range. Both weapons have short-medium effective range, high freeze chance, and high rate of fire, and large ammo pools. The Absolute Zero, however, is lacking in magazine size, especially compared to the Fridgia; however, this 'drawback' may not be problematic for certain characters, and can in some cases be quite beneficial, especially considering the very fast reloads featured by lasers with matching Maliwan barrel and body.

Notes

  • Wilhelm's skill Laser Focus increases Laser magazine size by flat values, not percentages, so at 5/5 and 10/5 it doubles and triples the Absolute Zero's magazine size, respectively. This could potentially make the Absolute Zero a far preferable choice to the Fridgia, because Wilhelm has many Laser-oriented specializations and skills, and can be very effectively built around the weapon type.
  • Claptrap has explosive skills (Load 'n Splode, Start with a Bang) that synergize directly with frequent reloads, which in turn synergize with the fact that Frozen enemies take massively increased explosive damage, making the Absolute Zero a potentially devastating weapon in the hands of an explosive-oriented Claptrap player.
  • Nisha has skills (Quick Shot, Hell's Comin' With Me) that grant significant bonuses upon reloading.

Trivia

  • The flavor text is a reference to Mr. Freeze, a classic super-villain appearing primarily in Batman comic books published by DC Comics. The full quote is "In this universe, there is only one absolute: Everything freezes."
