3:10 to Kaboom is an optional mission in Borderlands 2 that becomes available on the Lynchwood Bounty Board after The Man Who Would Be Jack is started.

Background[]

"The sheriff of Lynchwood sends every ounce of Eridium from the town mines to her boyfriend, Handsome Jack. Brick wants you to destroy the train she uses to transport this Eridium. First, you'll have to find a small demolition transport and snag it for yourself."

Walkthrough[]

Objectives[]

  • Get to demolition depository
  • Capture RC train
  • Pick up bomb cart
  • Place RC train
  • Get to detonator
  • Blow up train

Strategy[]

To start with, hit the indicated glowing button on the machine. This will start a small mine cart down a track leading through the area, as well as starting the mission timer. Directly opposite of the button, to the left of the giant drill in the wall, is a hazard-striped door leading into the mountain. Push the button on the console next to it to close the door, causing the minecart to collide with it and stop. Grab the bomb cart, which replaces the mission timer with a new timer, then move south to the indicated track section. Place the bomb cart, causing it to trundle off into the tunnel, and triggering a new objective in the north-west corner of the area. Reach the detonator on a raised platform at the indicated location. After arriving at the detonator, the train will come from the right, while the bomb cart rolls in from the left on a slightly lower track. The train will stop in the center of the track from a few seconds to load Eridium, then start moving again to the left. When the bomb cart is under the train, hit the detonator to blow up the train and the track it is on.

Note that the final detonator is in the same area as Mad Dog is found for the Breaking the Bank mission. This can allow the two missions to be progressed concurrently, but beware Mad Dog's knockback attacks while on the raised platform, as being punted into the chasm will most likely fail the mission.

Completion[]

"With the train gone, the Sheriff will have to find some other way of transporting eridium to her boyfriend."
